Fly With Me?

Well I've been gone
For who knows how long
And I've got the strangest feeling,
I don't believe is wrong,
That whilst we did our separate things,
You took to the skies and sprouted wings.

And if you don't mind
Just coming down for a time,
Because I'm beautifully broken
And left way behind,
So tell me, am I getting wings too?
Or was I already up in the air before you?

It is trite for hearts to change,
By no means should you think it strange,
But in our time spent apart,
While we were estranged,
Exactly why did you change, and how?
And just how different are you now?

And if you don't mind
Just coming down for a time,
Because I'm beautifully broken
And left way behind,
So tell me, am I getting wings too?
Or was I already up in the air before you?

Though I don't truly know if a change was made,
(And if not, then please just ignore this tirade),
It is stupid, silly, and makes no sense,
But deep down, I must say, I'm afraid,
Because if you're different than you were before,
Who's to say you need me anymore?

And if you don't mind
Just coming down for a time,
Because I'm beautifully broken
And left way behind,
So tell me, am I getting wings too?
Or was I already up in the air before you?

Have you changed when I was gone?
We haven't spoken in so long.
But if my prior guesses were actually wrong,
ANd I was the first in this endeavor,
If I did have my wings all along,
Then, maybe, could we fly together?

~End~

A poem/song I wrote in Virginia, thinking of people and how they change.

Thank ye. It's really not that great, but it's the first one in a while so I figured it worked.

And the wind I know it's cold
I've been waiting
For the day I will surely die
And it's here
And it's here for I've been told
That I'll die before I'm old
And the wind I know it's cold..."
